Setting Time and Place Chapter 1 · The characters arrive at Sticklehaven off the coast of Devon, intent on traveling to Indian Island, which has been in the news lately because it is surrounded by mystery. · The main characters wonder about the people they meet, and are excited at the chance to spend a week at this luxurious island.
Chapter 2
The characters wait outside the train station for the others to arrive so they can proceed to Indian island.
As they arrive Vera notices the poem n the fire place.
Chapter 3
The accusations of murderer play out from a record named swan song.
The people discuss their pasts and the accusations.
Chapter 4
The people talk about the people who supposedly sent the letters inviting them.
Anthony Marston takes a sip of his drink, drops his glass, and the begins to choke.
Chapter 5
Dr. Armstrong rushers over and concludes he is dead.
Vera notices the first part of the poem in her bed room is exactly what happened that night.
Chapter 6
Rogers's Wife will not wake up and Armstrong concludes she also is dead.
Emily Brent explains to Vera that Beatrice Taylor's death was not her fault.

After a short debate they conclude neither Anthony Marston's nor Mrs. Rogerses deaths were suicides or accidents.
Phillp Lombard, Dr. Armstrong, and Mr. Blore search the island in the hopes of finding a hiding out killer.
Chapter 8
General McAurthur is waiting for the end of his life by the sea.
The three men conclude there is nobody on the island but the ten guests at the house.
Chapter9
Dr. Armstrong finds MaCaurthur dead from a blow to the head.
Wargrave suggests one of the guests is the murderer.
Chapter 10
Lombard expresses to Vera that he thinks Wargrave is the murderer because he has come accustom to the power of life and death.
Emily Brent is dazed and writes that Beatrice Taylor is the murderer then comes to her senses and thinks she must be going mad.
Chapter 11
Rogers is killed by an axe to the back of the head.
Emily expresses she is not afraid to die because she has lived a faithful life
Chapter 12
Emily Brent is sitting in the kitchen and recieves an enjection of cyonide from behind.
Lombard's revolver goes missing.
Chapter 13
Vera is scared by a piece of seaweed dangling in her room.
Wargrave is killed by a revolver shot to the head.
Chapter 14
Blore sees sombody out creeping around during the night.
The group finds that armstong is missing as well as another indian figure.
Chapter 15
The three try to signal the mainland.
Blore is killed by a falling marbel clock.
Chapter 16
Vera and Lombard find Armstrongs body and they conclude they are the last two.
Vera picks Lombards pocket for the revolver and kills him, and then procedes to the house.
She smashes two indian figures and goes up to her room and finds a noose and a chair and then hangs herself.
Billy - Your snippets definitely give the highlights of each chapter. The Epilogue and the Manuscript were due today, Monday. No guess at the climax either. Mrs. M

2. The book states that Vera was a good swimmer which hints to the fact that she was an all around good athelete.

2. Mr. Blore pretends to be from South Africa.

1. Macarthur sent Arthur Richmond to his death in a position in battle.
2. Macarthur was in the air force.

1. Lombard was responsible for the starvation and death of 21 people from an African Tribe.
2. Lombard was having financial troubles.

Choose one of the following: suspense or foreshadowing.
With your small group, find four examples of suspense OR foreshadowing in chapter two.
Each member of your group must write on his or her WIKI page the exact wording from the book - that means type the sentences exactly as they are written.
Then, in a well-written paragraph, explain why these sentences clearly show either suspense or foreshadowing.
Read chapter three for Monday, October 25.
Four examples of suspense we found in chapter two are:
1. "Good looking fellow. Something just a little bit wrong about him...." (page 21)
2. There is something sinister about it. She shivered faintly. (page 22)
3. Queer business when you came to think of it- the whole thing was queer- very queer.... (page 26)
4. Indian Island Eh? There's a fly in the ointment. (page 35)
These sentences clearly show suspense because they sort of are like cliff-hangers. They hint that something is wrong. In number one it ends saying something is off. This clearly is suspense because it leaves you wondering, and trying to piece together what it could be talking about. It also leaves you wanting to read more. In number two, it saying the island is sinister which sort of tells you that the island gives off a menacing vibe. You can then infer that creepy or unexpected events will begin to or already have occurred on the island. In number three, it's describing the matter that is going on. Each guest is beginning to figure out that something is amiss but they can't quite figure it out yet. Number four goes right to the point that something is not right on Indian Island. All of these examples of suspense really keep you on the edge of your seat as you read this book. how does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?- A mystery may seem to be simmilar toa narrative but they are not really. A narrative usually focuses on one or two main characters but a mystery novel generally has many characters. Narritives almost always have an external or internal conflict but mysterys are based on a question.
how might the title be a clue to the story?- I really cant imagine what and thene there were none could mean but I would guess it would refer to somthing disapearing or becoming deceaced.

All stories/novels have conflict - mysteries included.
